Former Kaizer Chiefs star Lucky Maselesele has died at the age of 41

Cape Town – Lucky Maselesele, a former Kaizer Chiefs star, died at the age of 41.

Football Laduma reported on Friday that details about the death of the Alexandra-born fan favorite were still unclear.

Maselesele, who played for AmaKhosi between 1998 and 2004 after passing through his youth ranks, was known for his dribbling skills and high level of work. It was covered once internationally.

Isaac Mabotsa, who played alongside Maselesele, was heartbroken by the passing of the former star.

“I can confirm the sad news, but at this time I ask that we be given time to agree on what has happened. I am at your house while I speak, but please understand, I will not comment on it,” Mabotsa told Soccer Laduma.

After leaving Chiefs, Maselesele had a day job where he left for Maritzburg United, Thanda Royal Zulu, Black Leopards, FC AK and Civics FC in Namibia.

His stay in the KZN capital with Maritzburg saw the player banned for two years after testing positive for cocaine.
