Four African-American bodies were recovered that were drowned in Mozambique


The bodies of four South Africans who were drowned after having been washed to the sea in Mozambique earlier this week have been recovered.

The four victims were among a group of eight South Africans who arrived in Mozambique on January 12, 2019 to celebrate an anniversary.

"During a swimming adventure in the Portuguese islands, four of them were dominated by a wave of sea and, unfortunately, they were missing," said Kenny Mathivha, spokesman for the office of the Prime Minister of Limpopo .

"The bodies of Lesego Matsepe, Mmatholo Mogafe, David Kaise and Gregory Mfune will be repatriated to South Africa this Monday with the assistance of the Department of International Relations. The four survivors are also on the way home, except one that returned two days ago for medical attention, "said Mathivha.

Speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Stanley Mathabatha, Mathivha said that the two female victims were from Groblersdal in Limpopo, while the two men were from Secunda to Mpumalanga and Bloemfontein to the Free State.

The four survivors were from Tafelkop and Groblersdal to Limpopo.
