Windows 10 mobile It will not receive support or updates before the end of the year and specifies the death of the alternative of Microsoft's iOS and Android.
The last version of the operating system was published in October 2017, but the computer giant has continued to implement updates and security fixes.
Microsoft has confirmed that the support for Windows 10 Mobile will end on December 10, 2019, that is, the terminals that run the software will no longer be safe to use.
Windows 10 Mobile struggled to compete against Android and iOS, particularly with regard to the choice of applications. Microsoft now recommends users opt for their former rivals.
"With the end of Windows 10 Mobile OS support (getting), we recommend that customers move to an Android device or compatible iOS," the company writes in its online support page.
"Microsoft's mission statement to empower each person and every organization of the planet to achieve more, forces us to support our mobile applications on these platforms and devices."
The operating system also suffered the inability to attract many smartphone manufacturers who wanted to adopt the software just as Android has.
Nokia was among the few to use it for its Lumia line of smartphones, until Microsoft finally bought its mobile division.
