JOHANNESBURG – The University of South Africa (Unisa) has extended the registration deadline until January 31.

The announcement was made yesterday with the university where they needed to register the 25,000 students that were accepted.

The acceptance of 25,000 new students is part of an agreement reached with the national council of student representatives at the beginning of this month when students threatened a national stop.

The students threatened to close the institution earlier this month with students demanding better funds and subsidies.

Unisa's spokesman, Martin Ramotshela, says the academic program will not be affected by the extension.
