The live ULA video coverage of the launch of Delta 4 will begin on January 19 at 10:45 a.m. Afternoon (1:45 p.m. EST; 1845 GMT).

A note about our coverage:

For decades, the media have provided audio channels to allow account count coverage and upgrades of US launch vehicles. We are very disappointed to learn Friday that the United Launch Alliance has decided to change this practice for its launches.

A spokesman for the ULA said that the company had conducted an evaluation of its offer of audio lines and that it had decided to suspend "# |

For this current mission, the company will allow audio channels to be released two hours before release. This will avoid independent coverage of the crucial phase of countdown power.

After this release, the uninterrupted and clean audio of the launch control center will be launched to the media in real time. Unless you offer alternatives, the only source of account information will be back from the corporate communications department of the ULA through its website and social networking accounts.

Spaceflight Now expects the United Launch Alliance to reverse this decision, but if we do not, we can no longer offer the exact, timely and impartial coverage of the ULA releases that you have waited for.

This decision by United Launch Alliance does not affect our coverage of other launching companies.
