Dominicana: Bankers in Latin America for closer relationships
Havana, November 11 (RHC) The annual meeting of the Latin American Federation of Banks (Felaban) was opened today in the Dominican province of La Altagracia, which will be extended until November 14, with the presence of 1,600 bankers from 40 countries.
The event will include introductory words by Dominican Central Bank Governor Hector Valdez and Bank Governor Luis Armando Asuncion Alvarez, who will analyze the perspectives of the Dominican economy and oversee the financial system.
According to the organizers, lectures will also be delivered by representatives of the Brazilian Federation of Banks, the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the Latin American Financial Action Group and the International Financial Institution.
Among the topics analyzed are the economic and financial perspective of the region for 2019, the regulatory challenges of the banking industry after the culmination after 10 years of studies on the new rules of Basel III, the cyber security and the evolution of digital banking
Also, at the end of the conclave, the new president Felaban will be announced after Jose Lopez's two-year mandate, and details of the site of the 2019 Assembly.
