While Karl Stefanovic's TV career has hit a wall, his ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn's is just getting started.

Meanwhile, Cassandra's TV career is only picking up momentum after she was cast in the Ten Network series.

'It will be the ultimate slap in the face for Karl to see Cass on TV looking fitter than she's ever been. And trust me, I'll be raging behind closed doors. How the tables have turned! ' the source told Woman's Day.

"I know he's not coping very well with the fact his ex-wife has a great new gig, while he's not even sure what he'll be doing next week.

According to the report, Karl is worried his career is over but over, making it especially painful for him to watch Cassandra on TV.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph last week, Cassandra said she had a very personal reason for signing on for the show.

She said her late father encouraged her to do it during one of their final conversations together before her death in October.

'It had been offered to me and at first I thought, that's not crazy. I could not possibly do that. If you do not do something, an opportunity that you never thought would come up and if you said no, you will regret it one day, "she told the publication.

'And I thought "OK so let's go for it"'. Plus learning to dance, you know every girl would love to learn to dance. It's so lovely, what a skill. '

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Karl Stefanovic's representatives for comment.
