In a rare public appearance, Perello was in the stands last weekend at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne when Nadal was defeated in direct sets by Novak Djokovic.

Perello, an insurance worker, is an enigma in the tennis circuit, but firmly supported the Grand Slam champion for 17 years during his high rise.

He joined Christmas in Australia's Open this year for the second time they started out in 2005 and was detained for each game.

She rarely talks to the media and, despite dating one of the best sportsmen in the world, avoids fire.

In one of his few interviews, Perello revealed that he chose not to attend most of the Christmas tennis matches in an attempt to preserve his relationship.

He added that he was worried that he would interrupt the focus of his Spanish partner if it appeared in all events.

In an interview with The Telegraph in 2011, Perelloa explained: "You need your space when you are competing, and only the idea that you walk me and waiting for your needs all day makes me tired.

"I would suffocate. And then I should worry about myself … No. If I followed him everywhere, I think there is a risk of leaving us aside."

Nadal has not made any secret of his desire to have children, saying he is a "family man" and hopes to have a brood proper in the not too distant future.
