The German fashion chain Gerry Weber, who has been affected for some time, has filed a request for insolvency in her own administration. However, the parent company Gerry Weber International is affected.
Gerry Weber and its central brands Gerry Weber, Hallhuber, Samoon and Typhoon have been fighting for a while with few numbers of sales and red numbers. The reason for this is, among other things, a bad online business.
For the Halle / Westphalia tournament, however, immediate consequences are not feared, said a tournament spokesman for the Sports Information Service (SID). Hosting this year is not in danger. By 2020, however, there will probably be a new sponsor of the title. The location of the tournament is not in danger either.
The biggest German grass tournament is considered a success story and has taken place since 1993 as an ATP tournament. The winner of the record is Swiss Roger Federer with nine successes. This year, Croat Borna Coric won the final on Federer.
