Hundreds of people, including police, were injured in a clash over a football match at the Kotalipara upazila in Gopalganj. The injured have been admitted to several clinics, including the Upazila Health Center. The clash took place in the village of Parakata, at the Kalazari Upazila Union, at 9am in Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday.
It is learned that last Monday (July 19) afternoon, the teenagers from Parakata village split into two groups and played football at the local Janakalyan high school field. There was a discussion between the two parties about winning and losing the match.
According to sources, Sajal Gain, 18, son of Swapan Gain, of the village of Parakata, and Jamal Mallick, 38, son of Azahar Mallick, had an altercation Wednesday morning. After that, the villagers of Dudal split up and became involved in clashes. Upon receiving the news, police from Kotalipara Police Station and Bhangarhat Naval Investigation Center went to the scene and monitored the situation.

Kotalipara police said, OC. Aminul Islam said the situation in the area is currently calm. Police have been deployed at the scene. No party has so far filed a complaint with the police. Legal action will be taken if a claim is received.
