Edmonton and the surrounding communities issue advice on the poor air quality – Edmonton

The Canadian Environment issued an air quality statement for several communities in the Edmonton region and its area on Sunday morning.

Climate specialist Kevin O & Connell said the poor air quality was caused by warm weather trapped in the open air and a cool air that is located closer to the surface of the earth.

"This is causing everything possible to form a small dome around us at this time. All contaminants will be trapped there," explained O Connell during Morning News on Sunday.

It is expected that Edmonton and the surrounding communities will have an air quality health index from seven to Sunday, which is at high risk. Fort Saskatchewan, Vegreville, Redwater and Smoky Lake were under the same statement of air quality.

Canada Environment said people could experience symptoms such as coughing, throat irritation, headaches or lack of breath. Children, the elderly and those with cardiovascular or pulmonary disease are especially at risk.

Air quality is expected to stay poor until Monday afternoon, when winds are expected to rise, according to Environment Canada.
