Game of Year 2018: # 3 – Marvel Spider-Man

The Marvel Spiderman PS4 game of Year # 3

Many things could have gone wrong with Marvel Spider-Man. A so beloved character brings with it a massive list of expectations of millions of fans, and while the superhero video game career has had its moments, there have been several titles that have left the players a bit cold. When you take into account the pressure on Insomniac Games to offer a great Spider-Man game, it makes the studio even more impressive. This is one of the most entertaining titles of 2018, and probably the best game of Spidey to date.

Insomniac working with Marvel and Sony in a game starring the head of the web sounded like a game made in the sky, and it was absolutely. He broke it to the studio. Manhattan is a wonderful joy to travel thanks to endless fun web browsing, which makes you feel amazing as a pirouette and fly around the horizon. When you just get from A to B in an open world, it's remarkable, you know you're a winner, and this game rarely hinders your way.

The fight is also fun to take off. Using a melee mix, environmental attacks and artifacts, the fight feels improvising in the best way; There are many possibilities to overthrow, but ultimately it's your choice in how to use all Spidey skills and equipment. It causes the combat to be fast, varied and compulsive. This means that, although many of the parallel activities include gang hiding, they are not bored.

Perhaps the greatest triumph, however, is the story and the characters surprisingly well made. Many licensed games have quite uninhibited narratives, but Insomniac tells a totally original story about a 23-year-old Peter Parker who fights economically, his relationship with Mary-Jane, the involvement of Aunt May in the FEAST refuge and the brilliant main villain. It is unique between Spider-Man fiction, and writing and direction make him feel at home among the Sony exclusive.

When you add everything together, the amount of love that Insomniac has for the character is clear as the day. Even out of the great story and the brilliantly fun game, the game is full of references, easter eggs and details that are icing on the cake. Collectible packages each contain something interesting, be it an author or a reference to other Spidey fictions, and, undoubtedly, there are some gestures of # Other games and films that are distinguished throughout history. Among the alternative dresses, the false social media, and even the ability to get five citizens to the street, feels like a game made by fans of fans.

All the efforts of the Insomniac have been clearly paid, as it has been a fugitive success, both in terms of reception and sales. It's a huge achievement for the studio, as it has not only delivered a stellar action adventure, but has secured its position as one of the best business developers. The game is safe, in bold and an explosion from start to finish. There are certainly more ambitious games on the PS4, with larger open worlds or more innovative features, but few are as fun as Marvel's Spider-Man.
