The most recent Google product created to obtain a date of death is Google+. The controversial Facebook Facebook clone is closing on April 2. Google has been moving away from the service for years, but gave the site a death sentence on October, after disclosures of a data leak were made public. We now have a specific closing date for the service.
The Google support page details exactly how the G + off will go down and not only posts will be blocked on the site. The entire site will be removed and everything will be deleted. "On April 2, your Google+ account and the Google+ pages you've created will be closed and we will start deleting content from Google+ consumer accounts," says the page.
The entire removal process seems brutal. It will not only be the full Google+ site that will take off of Internet-Google +, but also the PowerBook comments on Blogger and other third-party sites will be deleted. Google+ users have until April to download and save everything they can do through this page.
Google+ was Google's panic reaction to the boom of Facebook and other social networks. In 2011, Google saw Facebook as an existential threat. What happens if people stopped searching and only asked their friends good website and product recommendations? It seems ridiculous today, but then Google thought the social era was the future, and then the CEO Larry Page associated all of the employee bonuses to the success of Google+. As a result, Google users forced Google+ into any other Google product, whether it was meaningful or not. At one point, the service was described as "a similar type to the next version of Google" by a Google executive. Google now has to eliminate the Google + tentacles of all its products.
With all the integrations in other products, Google warns that turning off Google+ will not be a quick process: "The process of deleting content from consumer accounts in Google+, Google+ Pages, and Album File it will take a few months and the content will be maintained this time. " The Google support page says: "For example, users may still see parts of their Google+ account through the activity log and a certain Google+ content of consumption may remain visible to users of G Suite until the consumer of Google+ is deleted ".
Although April 2 is the bottom date of the profiles, the download of Google+ will begin soon. As of February 4 you will not be able to create new Google+ profiles or communities. Google claims that third-party sites and applications that use the Google+ sign-in button will no longer work "in the coming weeks" and that third parties should switch to the non-Google+ version of the "#" button ; Google login. Powered by Google's comments will be removed from Blogger on February 4 and from third-party sites on March 7.
Google has long since retired from Google+, and today the service is not as integrated into Google as it has been in the past. Google Photos and Google Hangouts were parts of Google+ and now they are independent services. At one point, Google+ was mandatory for YouTube comments, and now it's not. The service was integrated in a similar way from Google Play Store, Gmail and Google Search.
Google+ is another product in a list of services that Google plans to close soon. Before closing Google+, Google Inbox will die in March. Google Hangouts will begin to be canceled in October for G Suite users, with a waiting stop expected sometime in 2020. In the future, I suspect we will talk about the death of Google Play Music, which Is expected to be merged with YouTube Music at some point. It will be a tough year to be a Google user.
