SALT LAKE CITI – Gordon Haivard received a cool reception in Utah. Every time he touched the ball, Boston Celtics left the city with a loss.
Joe Ingles had a high career with 27 points and added seven seven assists to help Jazz win the Celtics 123-115 on Friday night in the return of Haiverard to Salt Lake City.
Heward had 13 points and seven assists in 25 minutes during the first match in Utah, as he left Jazz as a free agent to sign with Celtics after the 2016-17 season. Last season he broke his left wrist in Boston.
The first seven NBA season spent the first seven NBA finals after being made in the ninth season in the ninth season. On average, it was 15.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists for Utah, but the hostile response of Jazz fans followed.
"I was expecting something from that," Haivard said. "They were on the move, so it's part of the game."
Boston in the fourth quarter reduced the deficit by 20 points to four. Playing without injured Kirti Irving, Celtics closed on multiple occasions four times later in the period, and last time on a 3 point from Marcus Smart, who made 111-107 with 2:19 left.
Rudi Gobert quickly responded with a schedule that strengthened the lead to six. Jason Tatum missed gaps that could save the deficit, and Boston never came close.
Jae Crovder finally weakened the return door with 3 corners that drove Utah to 117-109 and stayed 47.7 seconds.
Coach Jute Kuin Snider thought that his team turned the corner by hanging a high move against Celtics.
"Our team sometimes did not succeed in the games," said Sneijder. "Sometimes we lose focus when we hit the shots. Teams will come back to you, but you can not make it easier."
Donovan Mitchell scored 21 points for Utah. Crawder had 20, and Gobert finished 17 points and 15 rebounds. Jazz won its second home game, and the other in a row as a whole.
"We all picked it up, defended our energy and picked our focus," Mitchell said. "We got good practices, but we simply did not put in the game. I think we've done it in the last few games."
Terri Rozier scored a season high 22 points, making his first start at Irving, and Jaison Tatum added 21 for Celtics.
Boston lost for the third time in four games as Utah allowed to shoot in the season with 56%.
"Well, as we were defensive in the first nine games, I think we have not been so good in the last three," said coach Brad Stevens. "I thought we actually did a good job on initial deployments in isolation, but in many cases we did not get jumps. Our pick-and-roll defense, we just have to really shave it."
Jazz began to withdraw when they scored three points in each of their last four crochet positions in the second quarter to lead 58-51 halftime. Ingles had the first three baskets for a long distance, highlighting the first half of 20 points for him.
Utah opened the third quarter in a race of 17-6. Mitchell lit a crack by exhaling three free throws and driving for a stomach. Derrick Favors continued with the cover from the ass to the ass, which doubled the jazz twice and finished with a few free throws, which makes Utah 75-57 just four minutes in the quarter.
"Defense, we did not pay attention to details," Rozier said. "We just did not have a presence there, so they played freely."
The Jazz built their victory on 83-63 on the ground by Crawder before Boston dashed in the fourth quarter.
Celtics achieved four championships, which culminated in Tatum's setup to light the race from 15-4. Rozier caught 3 in jail and escaped Utah's 100-96 victory.
"I mean, they know. I'll leave that in." – The negotiator as to whether his 20-point performance was motivated by the desire to show Celtics that they were wrong when they traded him in Cleveland before the 2017 season.
