BURLINGTON, Ont. – Band based on Burlington, Ont. Walk off the Earth has announced the death of keyboardist and vocalist Mike Taylor.

In a publication in various social media Sunday afternoon, the band says that Taylor died "peacefully because of natural causes last night."

Their bandmates express their "deeper sympathies" for Taylor's two children and ask for privacy for their family.

"It is with deep sadness that we announce the passage of our beloved brother and member of the band, Mike" Beard Guy "Taylor," said the post.

"Mike had a love for life unmatched and the willingness to give that went beyond the ordinary means."

The Burlington mayor, Marianne Meed Ward, also expressed her condolences on Twitter, which called Taylor's death a "tragic loss."

"The condolences of our city come to Mike's family, friends and colleagues. We're thinking of you," said Meed Ward.

Walk the Earth was founded in the year 2006 and came to fame in 2012 when Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" cover was viral.

A YouTube video for the song, with the five members of the band simultaneously playing a single guitar and singer in harmony, has won more than 185 million views.

The band was scheduled to start a 2019 world tour with an annual show in Niagara Falls, Ont., Monday night.

A Walk of the Earth representative says he will not act, but the show will also show, which also includes The Sheepdogs and Burton Cummings.
