Nobody was injured during the robbery, which happened at the jewelry store at Lukfook at 6:25 a.m. at the mall to Hwy. 7 and McCowan Road said.
Several witnesses said they felt shots, but the police could not verify this information, Whitney said.
"There are reports of shots that have not yet been confirmed by the police. We're going to be talking with testimonials, watching video and watching the scene for that sort of thing," he said.
"Several people are calling here saying that. All I can say is that this is what they say. But when you get glasses of jewelry and things in this way, let them know what they are. jokes ".
The suspects were making their escape when the officers arrived, Whitney said.
"The officers came to the scene in no time and the suspects had been fleeing through the parking lot," he said.
"A detention was made. Other suspects have fled. We do not know how many there are. All we can say is that there are several suspects. I have no description more than the fact that some were using construction vests at that time" .
You have shared many periodic videos of the incident on social networks.
Whitney did not know what, in any case, the thieves managed to escape from stealing them from the store.
He said it was a sassy robbery, saying "thank God" nobody was hurt.
"The shopping center was very busy, pedestrians, vehicles, all the material. It was a busy time in the mall," he said.
"I know there were reports that there were ambulances there, but I think that this was as a precaution because of the sound reports of gun shots. We have not been summoned for injuries."
Although the police did not close the mall, some stores implemented their own lock and protected customers within their stores as an internal security protocol, Whitney said.
"Now everything is fine, everything is under control," he added.
