Chilean scientists discover causes of new forms of heart failure


A group of scientists from the Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile He discovered the way in which heart failure occurs.

According to the inquiry, currently the coexistence of several factors of cardiovascular risk – Obesity, diabetes mellitus, high cholesterol, sedentary lifestyle, smoking and high blood pressure – that characterizes today's society have generated the appearance of # 39 ; a new cardiovascular pathology known as heart failure with preserved systolic function.

This new form of insufficiency prevents the heart from relaxing properly, affecting almost half of patients with heart failure, both in Chile and in the countries with the highest level of development.
