Dry eye syndrome is multifactorial and incurable, says a specialist

Mexico, December 30 (Notimex) .- Artificial tears are the best solution for dry eye syndrome, which is not curable and has a multifactorial origin.

Medications, air conditioning, use of electronic devices, autoimmune diseases, hormonal alterations and some eye characteristics are some of the factors that produce dry eye.

There are three main types of dry eye: by aqueous deficiency, due to the decrease in the production of tears and evaporative dryness.

Although they usually appear for the first time in adults over 40 years of age and are more common in postmenopausal women, dry eye symptoms may occur at any age.

Dry eye may also be caused by local, systemic or immune disorders viral, including Sjörgen syndrome.

There are artificial tears that alleviate the symptoms of different types of dry eye (evaporation or bad tear of the tear), for better coverage and wider protection.

The symptoms are, usually, dryness, discomfort in the eyes, redness, sensitivity to light, feeling of rubbish and fuzzy vision.
