In case never finished, the curtain was closed once more. Minister Carola Rivas, who is responsible for the death of Matute Johns, issued the temporary dismissal of the case on Monday morning.
According to Radio Bío Bío, the decision of the judge came after receiving the Court of Appeals Court decision, a document that was received on December 12 and rejected new proceedings to add other inquiries to the case.
Therefore, the case is closed again without responsibility for the death and disappearance of the young student in 1999. Remember that the case was closed in 2010, after investigations did not give lights of the fight authors or possible murders, a thesis that they were driven until then. However, in 2014 the case was reopened, after a report by the Legal Medical Service confirmed that Matute Johns was drugged with pentobarbital.
Unfortunately, in these years no more clues could be gained besides the presence of this drug, which is commonly used for assaults or sexual offenses. Of course, the dismissal is not definitive, so the case could eventually continue. However, the only way to reopen one of the most emblematic investigations of the last time in Chile will depend on the emergence of new backgrounds.
