OVERVIEW: How to save expensive electricity? Disconnect the charger and lower the temperature

One of the biggest energy consumers in homes is heating. You can reduce costs not only by properly insulating the building, replacing windows, but you can save significantly just by setting the comfort temperature.

According to expert calculations, by reducing the required temperature by one degree Celsius, you can save up to 10 percent of the total annual cost. Turning off the heating of unused rooms will also help reduce costs. It is also advisable to turn off the heating at night. Not only will it save, but you will be able to sleep better in a cooler room (around 18 degrees Celsius).

Smartphones, tablets and laptops have become an integral part of our lives. Today few people can imagine life without them. Due to the frequency of their use, they need to be recharged very often, even several times a day. Often, therefore, some leave the charger plugged in for convenience.

This bad habit is not only dangerous, as the chargers are already responsible for fires, but also others that are cheap. Chargers consume power even when they are not charging. It is usually a few watts, but in total several hundred crowns a year can be saved.

If you use old light bulbs at home, consider switching to modern LEDs. The initial investment is the largest, depending on the type and yield, the difference can exceed one hundred crowns, but the subsequent savings are indisputable.

LED luminaires have a longer service life and consume much less energy. You can save more than four hundred crowns a year by replacing a classic light bulb with an LED. As part of the savings, it is also recommended to turn it off in a room where you do not plan to return in about five minutes.

Circuit breakers

You can also save money by changing the switch. If you no longer use energy-intensive machines, such as an old circular saw or household welder, but use modern, energy-saving appliances, check the circuit breaker.

You may still have an unnecessarily strong circuit breaker. Therefore, you pay an unnecessarily high flat rate per month. For example, by replacing a three-phase switch with a size of 40 A with a single-phase switch with a size of 25 A, you can save hundreds of crowns a year.

Wash, cook, wash dishes, but also store food in the refrigerator. There are several devices on the market. When purchasing them, give priority to consumption. The energy label will help you find your way. It always indicates to which category the product belongs (category D is the cheapest, on the contrary, category A together with the most signs are the cheapest). Replacing an old refrigerator with a new one can save you up to 20 percent of your total annual cost.

Location of appliances

How much this or that appliance will consume electricity depends not only on its consumption, but also on its “smart” location. If you place the refrigerator next to the radiator or next to the hot air oven, it is obvious that you will need more energy to cool down. The same goes for boilers that are used to heat hot water, for example: we should never place them in a cold cellar.

Delayed start function

Just as mobile devices are being improved technologically and in terms of software, there is also help from washing machines, dryers and dishwashers. In modern models you can already find a feature called “Delayed Start”. This can be used well if we have an agreed rate with a lower price of electricity at a particular time. This can save a lot of money on annual consumption.

Standby mode

All you have to do is sit on the couch, press the button on the remote control and the TV, the home theater, the stereo will start. Open the laptop cover and you will not have to wait for the system to turn on. Having these things on hold is simply very convenient. But pay for the convenience. According to some
