The European Antibiotic Day initiative is organized by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control and supported by the World Health Organization. It is an initiative aimed at both the professional public and the goal of raising awareness about the proper use of antibiotics, as well as the threats posed by bacteria resistant to many groups of antibiotics. Resistance to antibiotics in many cases endangers public health, as tens of thousands of Europeans die annually as a result of infections with resistant bacterial syndromes.

"Antibiotics play a very important role in the treatment of infectious diseases, unfortunately resistance to antibiotics (resistance) of bacteria or even their ability to survive in the presence of antibiotics has become an alarming problem of international importance over the past several years. We use antibiotics responsibly, and this is precisely this the issue highlights the European Antibiotic Day, which is already in the whole world, "says Primary Microbiology Researcher OLM Ivana Kohnova.

"It is very important to constantly remind not only the general public, but also the healthcare workers the need for responsible access to antibiotics, because proper use of antibiotics can prevent the spread of dangerous resistant strains and help maintain effective drugs for future generations. It is not necessary, bacterial agent infection gradually becomes resistant on them and antibiotics become ineffective, "says Ivana Kohn, MD, with the fact that in practice it is often the case that patients require antibiotics without their diagnosis. cases of direct and open cooperation between the doctor and the patient are necessary, as well as raising awareness of all the risks associated with the excessive use of antibiotics, "concludes Kohnova, adding that, in connection with the European Day of Antibiotic M in the hospitals of the Central Moravia Hospital, who are interested in antibiotics.
