45 African leaders expected at the 11th emergency summit of the AU in Ethiopia: the ministry – Xinhua


ADDIS ABABA, November 8 (Xinhua) – The Ethiopian Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that it is expected that 45 African leaders are expected to attend the Extraordinary Summit of African Union Heads of States (AU) scheduled for November 17 and 18 at the AU headquarters in the capital Ethiopia, Adis Abeba.

In a press release, the ministry said that African leaders are expected to discuss the need for a reform of the AU Commission to make the continental body more efficient to meet the needs of its 55 member states and make the AU capable of facing regional and international challenges.

Especially the leaders are expected to discuss progress in meeting the goals of continental economic and political integration, as stated in Agenda AU 2063.

At the extraordinary summit, a meeting of senior ministers from 55 countries of the AU will be held, which will be held from November 14 to 15, and is expected to set the agenda for the summit.
