"What we say is important … because in most cases your mouth is talking about what is full of heart" Jim Beggs

- Dear Members of the House of Representatives
- Respected people of our country, invited guests
- Ladies and gentlemen,
On this historic day, as our country, Ethiopia peacefully conveys power in accordance with its management system, I would like to express the unique pride that I feel to stand in front of this August house and to make this speech.
First of all, I would like to express my highest gratitude to His Excellency Hailemariam Desalegno, for his good step in voluntary departure and conveying his power is to be part of the solution to the instability that the country has had over the last several years; because they believe that the new leadership is better suited to solve these problems; for the priorities of the country's dignity and national interests in a way that can set a priority for our continent.
Similarly, on behalf of all our people, I would like to thank everyone who played special roles to ensure that the transfer of state power takes place without any problems.
It's a historic day for our country. In our long history, we have got a lot of opportunities at different levels to find a new political start. Many of them went without us to use them. This power transfer is yet another historic opportunity to launch a new chapter. It is therefore important to use it appropriately with the spirit of maximum responsibility.
Ethiopia is a fertile land. She has produced many children who tirelessly strive for a great spirit of love for the earth. Her children are heavily trying and tirelessly trying to return the country to their past; and to ensure the protection and security of their people and to spread prosperity to all their citizens without discrimination.
Whether it is in the country or outside the country, they shout, debate and debate the national unity of the country and its peace, justice and equality, but also its prosperity. This transmission of power points to two main truths. On the one hand, it is indicative that we laid the foundations for a lasting and comprehensive constitutional order; On the other hand, the indicative fact is that we are building a system that partly works with the political, economic and social conditions of the country, which is governed by the will of the people, what makes the people their master and serves them accordingly.
This story is one in which we learned from our mistakes and we made a mistake in our country. Our leading organization, EPRDF, firmly keeping its development path, has produced over the years that has led our country for more than two decades to fundamental changes in all sectors and has built a constitutional and federal system.
We are in a national transformation that is being watched all over the world, on the one hand, with great attention, admiration and expectations; and on the other hand, with great concern.
To what extent there are many achievements that are registered, we also believe that there are gaps that need to be resolved quickly. As we learn from our mistakes and advance in the future, our primary focus should be on building a better country for all of us. The essence is to catapult our country to a higher level of development and move forward, ensuring that its unity is secured on a sustainable basis.
The wisdom that our Ethiopian considered us should not be overcome by temporary obstacles, but that the trials we face in occasions and desirable disasters are changing, and we achieve victory. Yesterday, our ancestors broke their bones at Metema, Advi, Maichev and Karra Marr and dropped their precious blood to preserve us and left us a land that was able to maintain its independence and pride.
We are happy; We have a beautiful country and a proud history. We know our beginnings. We are great people who have a history that has passed many centuries. Our unity can be an example to the world. He defeated our enemies; have protected our sovereignty and have led us to this day by becoming an example to other people who are fighting for their independence.
Our identity has been built in a way that is inseparable; it is threaded in a way that can not be separated. It's integrated from love. Amhara was sacrificed in Karri Marri because of the sovereignty of our country – they became one another with her soil. The Tigers sacrificed to Methema, saying: "Put my neck back in my land and become one with his ground." Oromo gave his breasts on the Adva Mountains to protect the sovereignty of the country and cross the country of Adva.
Somalia, Sidama, Benishangul, Valaite, Gambella, Gurage, Afar, Silte, Kambata, Hadija, Harari and all other nations in Ethiopia were burning as they spoke of my death before Badme and crossed over to his land.
As one Ethiopian father said: "While we are alive, we are human; after passing, we become land and therefore become a land." You will find the precious bodies of every Ethiopian from all over the country to become a country in the other part of the country. We are Ethiopians, while we are alive, we are Ethiopians; When we die, we become Ethiopia.
Ethiopia is the land of all of us and our common house. In one country, there will inevitably be differences in opinion. Differences in opinion are not blamed. When we are able to listen to each other in spite of our differences and engage in a principled discourse, our differences bring dividends in the form of blessings. In the fight against ideas are solutions. Cooperation has strength. When we get together, we become stronger. There is no problem that unity can not be solved. Because it builds a nation. The attitude that "instead of dying, but seeing my idea does not win" destroys families, let alone the nations. What we have is Ethiopia. Above all political thought, national unity is supreme. However, we must emphasize that national unity does not mean unity. Our unity should be one that encompasses our diversity and emphasizes our multinational identity.
We Ethiopians need and deserve democracy. Democracy is not an idea of aliens for us. When he was a foreigner to many nations and countries, we lived below and ruled our Gada system of democracy, which became an example of the world. Today, democracy building is an existential thing for us – than for any other country.
Democracy is unimaginable without freedom. Freedom is not a gift from people by the government. Instead of the nature of nature, everyone who comes from our human dignity. We must respect all human and democratic rights, in particular freedom of expression, assembly and organization, supporting the constitution that came out of this understanding of freedom. It is necessary to fully realize the rights of all our citizens to participate in all structures and at all levels in a democratic way.
What we all need to understand is that the construction of a democratic system requires the sending of one another. People have the full right to criticize their servants, to elect them and to question them. The government is a servant of people. This is because our ruling principle is popular sovereignty. In a democratic system, the first and last principle should be fun differences in opinions listening to each other. Realizing that Ethiopia belongs to all of us, that it is our common property, we will continue with our efforts to build a democratic system in which the voices of all Ethiopians are heard, and everyone is allowed to participate equally.
In a democratic system, the government allows citizens to express their ideas freely without fear. Citizens' right to free movement can not be built without the leadership, support and openness of the authorities. Therefore, the government will work with a great decision to respect (and not obstruct) the free and peaceful movement of citizens.
In the same sense, when citizens express their ideas, it must be in a peaceful way. Because it is the search for one's own democratic rights and the violation of the rights of another self-contradictory one. He also advocates the growth of democracy. The government must respect the law. It is also an obligation to ensure compliance with the law. Be patient and his obligation is also reserved. When the patience of the government fails, it damages democracy.
In both ways, the democracy we are craving can not become a reality. In democratic governance, the rule of law must be established. One wisdom that we should not forget when trying to secure the domination of the law is that our people are not only looking at the laws of presence, but also in the exercise of justice. Enforcement of the law should not be divorced from justice. What our people are trying to do is not a law, but a system of law that is conceived within justice, that is justice. What people are looking for are neutral and non-party police officers who are loyal to law and those who jealously protect citizens' rights.
The law must lead us justly. When it does, the law protects us for all our dignity stemming from our humanity. If we understand this truth, we fill the void in the judiciary by making the necessary reforms (improvements) in order for democracy to succeed in our country; so that freedom and justice will rule; so the supreme law becomes reality.
For peace, the foundation is justice. Peace is not the absence of conflict. Peace is an irreversible unity built on our common understanding. Peace is our trust one another. Peace is our common journey that has continued to this day through the joint advent of unity. Peace is our path and our goal that enables us to resolve disputes and conflicts in a civilized way.

- Dear Members of the House of Representatives
- Ladies and gentlemen,
We are in a time when the African horn is affected by a major crisis and where many forces with different interests and goals struggle and where there are many complex problems. At the same time, it is a region in which there are many people associated with culture, language and long history.
As far as our external relations are concerned: Our country is the foundation of pan-Africanism, the founder and seat of the African Union, the founders of many of the leading international organizations, and a country that plays a significant role in regional, continental and global issues. This policy based on common interest and mutual benefit, we will strengthen and continue with this. With our African brothers in general and with our neighbors, we will especially stand together in times of difficulty and happiness.
With the government of Eritrea, we want from the bottom of our hearts that the disagreement that prevailed for years ended. We will also take responsibility. As we express our readiness to resolve our differences through dialogue, I take this opportunity to invite the Eritrean government to similarly stand not only because of our common interest, but also because of the ordinary blood relations between the peoples of the two countries.

- Dear Members of the House of Representatives
- Ladies and gentlemen,
Corruption is one of the main reasons behind the complaints of our people in recent years. We came to learn that it is impossible to fight corruption only by establishing anti-corruption institutions. I kindly ask that we do everything we can to ensure that Ethiopia does not become the country in which one endeavor, and the other one simply pulls out.
It is impossible for people and the country that is busy taking away the wealth created yesterday from the other and settling points for promotion. In a situation where there is a bigger pie in which everyone can work and become prosperous, Ethiopia will not become the one in which one thinks, let alone be obliged, to steal from the other. Instead, we are dealing with the unique opportunities that represent our circumstances, coordinating our national capacities and overcoming our scarcity and lack of thinking. The famous leader of the Indian Movement for Freedom of India, Mahatma Gandhi, once said: "The world has enough resources for every need, but not enough for greed for everyone." On the new path we just measured, we will tirelessly work day to day fighting robbery, wasting wealth and fighting organized corruption in a way that will enable all our people to participate.
Due to the rapid growth our country has achieved over the past years, our successes in poverty reduction; in building basic infrastructure; in the development of human resources and the like are visible to all. In this respect, the government has taken political and practical measures to keep price inflation; stabilize the foreign exchange market; maintain the health status of the financial sector; to expand access to financial services needed for the economy; to generate foreign currency; to encourage savings and investments; to create employment opportunities; increase people's per capita income, and reduce poverty.
At the same time, over the past few years, there have been events and challenges that are trying our economic growth and the stability of macroeconomics. Among these problems, the main fact is that our foreign trade has not grown as much as we want and that there is a discrepancy between the demand and the supply of foreign currency; price inflation; increasing the cost of living; the weight of foreign debt and the gap between domestic savings and investment.
Although the progress made in the agricultural sector is encouraging, we have not sufficiently supported this sector with the necessary technology and as a result we have not collected the dividends that we should receive from it as a country.
As a great country and people, in order to reach the peak of the successes we want and solve the problems we have, we believe that the key solution is to find education and education only.
Although the government pays attention to the education sector and works hard, especially in terms of ensuring the quality of education, we notice that we have many domestic tasks and do many activities.
Although the expansion of education is among the praiseworthy achievements of our government, as long as education and achievements do not support quality, our tireless efforts will not bear the fruits we want. Consequently, starting from primary school to higher education institutions, the government will, with its absolute commitment, double its efforts to focus on the quality of our knowledge centers. It will do the maximum effort to ensure that special graduates from our higher education institutions and technical and professional colleges collect knowledge that is comparable to their ability to meet.
In order to face these problems and many more, after evaluating the two-year impact of our Growth and Transformation Plan, we will take the necessary political decisions and achieve rapid economic growth.
Dear young people of our country
Ethiopia is yours. The future is above all yours. Even now, you must also take on the role of avant-garde in building a country. Youth issues are not just economics and equal benefits, we believe that justice and democracy are also. In terms of guaranteeing equal benefits to all members of society, their social justice and political participation, there was a failure. Although our country produces good economic growth results, it was not enough to meet the demands of young people moving in shape and content.
We realize that this has led to problems that our people feel. We also understand that without the help of young people and without their active participation, the country can not go anywhere. We will do everything we can to ensure that Ethiopia becomes a country that gives its hope of youth, and not to the one who is exhausting its hope. In the following periods, we will work not only to create opportunities for young people, but also to create numerous youth entrepreneurs. Faced and elaborate and discriminatory bureaucratic obstacles that pose obstacles to this goal will be removed and the government will create a suitable environment for a fair social and economic order. The truth that should never be forgotten is that the young woman, by her efforts and creativity, has created a better future for herself and for the country.
Under many difficulties and attempts, you have built Ethiopia; You made history; forms of generations; and brought us to this day. In your struggles you have huge sacrifices to have a better country. Your fight is just a fight. Your fight is a dignified and respectable fight. Your fight is our fight. Although the government has taken steps to ensure that it is used by women and to recognize their comprehensive contribution to the progress of our country, we believe that what we were doing fell short in relation to what has not yet been done.
Consequently, in the future, I hope that our country's women will use talents that have blessed you and continue to play a positive role in the growth and prosperity of our country and the success of our policies. Our national identity is meaningless without the participation of Ethiopian women. Denouncing the due recognition of the women who built our land, served our country and helped her to stand on their feet, it is impossible to establish a national renaissance. Our government's stand on the rights of women and their equality is not beneficial for them, but for our common good. The government correctly understands that a nation that neglects and marginalizes half of the population absolutely can not have a full and full body and can not move forward. Consequently, our government will strive with decisive commitment to speed up its efforts to improve the overall participation of women and their benefits.

- Dear Members of the House of Representatives
- The respected peoples of our country
- Dear invited guests
- Ladies and gentlemen,
Our problems are many and do not allow us any respite.
