The Ministry warns of an epidemic

Stuttgart. Red-brown carpets of hair of seven to 13 centimeters and autumn with a huge appetite for mushrooms, seeds and fruits: This is red fish, and for it is richly covered. 2018 is the year of fattening, oak and beech bearing the most fruits. In the past the cattle were a mast. But red chickens are also welcome. The mouse is the host and transmitter of the hantavirus.

If there is enough food, the reproduction works. That's why the Red Chikadia population will increase significantly next year. The reason for the state health service to mark the alarm for 2019 due to the assumed increased activity of the hantavir. "Experience has shown that the epidemic of chantavirus occurs regularly after bee-keeping," said Health Minister Manne Lucha (Green).

Steep rise from April?

In 2019, the ministry expects more than 1,300 cases across the country, in which the virus can be transferred from a mouse to humans. By comparison, until 2018, only 36 cases of chantavirus disease are known throughout the country. After Buchenmast 2016, 935 chantaviruses are registered in the next year. In 2012 there were more than 1700 cases, also after years of beech.

Hunt epidemics usually begin with a mild increase in reported infections of chantavirus in December, which continues in the spring. From April, by the end of the year there will be a sudden increase in the number of cases, says ministry spokesman Markus Jok.

Especially in oak and books rich in forests in the northern part of the country and in the edge of the forest forests along Svabian Alb, the Ministry expects many cases of infection. The focal point is always the Reutlingen district, where a large percentage of beech forests promote the spread of the red rod, and therefore the virus.

In Heidenheim district, as a second focus, the prognosis is relatively low in 90 infections. They are saved in the dangerous prognosis of the Ravensburg Circle, as well as the central and southern forest forests, areas with numerous coniferous trees.

In order to prevent the spread of chantavirus already, Health Minister Luce advises gardens owners to ban the dumping of waste or old waste from their gardens. In small niches and pillars, rodents prefer one. They also seek the possibility of nesting in garages, inns and houses. Possible holes in buildings, the advice of the ministry, should be sealed to reduce the likelihood of contact with the mouse and its secretion.

The infected rodents secret the viruses during their lifetime through saliva, urine and feces. Remnants can remain contagious for a few days, even if they are already dried.

Hantavirus illness in people is accompanied by symptoms similar to flu, such as fever, headaches and pain in the body. In some cases, renal failure may occur. Combined symptoms should be consulted by a general practitioner.
