The Garda arrested 46 people as part of an investigation into organized begging

FORTI, six people will appear in court next month after the guards launched a three-day operation targeting organized frogs.

Officers, trained and trained, from Pearse Street station in Dublin, patrolled busy tourist spots in the city center from last Friday to Sunday.

Temple Bar and Grafton Street were the main focal areas for officers.

Sources said last night that the operation was specifically targeted at those seeking or ordering others to beg on the streets and then take the money out of them.

It is illegal to organize, control, force or direct others to beg. Penalties may include up to five years in prison and a fine of 200,000 euros.

Officers also can instruct someone to stop begging and the beggar can not seek money in a way that threatens or intimidates.

It is expected that all 46 will appear in the criminal justice courts on December 6th.
