"The International Competition Department has 15 films, three of which are Indian. This is a compulsory thing that is going on for a certain time, and the competition department presents films that were produced and co-produced by 22 different countries," said the director of Chaitania Prasad.

Israel was chosen as the focal country for this event, which will include a package of films from the Middle East, added Prasad.

"As for the countries, in the international section there are about 144 international films from 68 countries, and will have 15 recognized films that will fight for the Golden Pavilion Award. We have two debut films that have reached the international section competition," he said.

"There are two international premiers, 15 Asian prime ministers and about 60 Indian prime ministers," Prasad said, adding that 15 films to be featured at the event will also be submitted as applications for the Oscars.

The festival will also feature a retrospective part of the famous Swedish director Ingmar Bergman.
