It may sound amazing, but there are fruits that can cause damage to some brain functions when consumed in excessive doses. For example, there is a berry that offers great benefits, but very few know that 50 grams of this popular fruit a day can damage the brain and memory. How is that possible? The answer lies in abuse.
Let’s take an example. Cholesterol crusades have been going on for years. In fact, excessive levels of bad cholesterol, such as LDL, in the blood cause several serious diseases. But the opposite is also true, cholesterol is essential for certain processes in the body. So be careful not to remove this molecule from the body that defends us from Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Few people know that 50 grams a day of this popular fruit can damage the brain and memory
There is one fruit that has proven its benefits to humans through research. However, this same fruit, if consumed in excessive doses, can be harmful. And we’re not talking about simple indigestion or stomach pain. The problems caused by this berry are related to cognitive processes, especially memory.
A study by the China Health and Nutrition Survey found that massive doses of peppers can cause damage to memory processes. This phenomenon is especially accentuated for those over 55 years of age. This research lasted more than 15 years, from 1991 to 2006 and involved 4,582 people. The results are staggering, revealing the exact daily dose of chilli that can be harmful to the brain. According to the study, those who consume more than 50 grams of chilli a day are twice as likely to lose memory.
The author of the study himself was surprised by these results. In fact, in previous research he had found a benefit from consuming hot peppers to reduce body weight and blood pressure. But this study also showed that at doses above 50 grams a day, this berry can be detrimental to cognitive processes. In particular, it can damage the memory processes of adults and the elderly.
This condition leads to premature mental aging and memory loss after 60 years
