The researchers raised the hypothesis that the spread of tau protein could be related to aging. This protein begins to appear in the hippocampal region that participates in the memory, but it is gradually moving to other parts of the brain as the condition gets worse.

Using the viral particle as a genetic mediator, the gene of the human tau protein was injected into the brain of mice and each cell began to produce tau protein.

As a result of the migration of the tau protein from its original position after 12 weeks, the rate of diffusion of the tau protein produced in the brains of old mice was almost twice as fast as that produced by young mice.

Healthy proteins are present in all brain neurons in the form of a liquid, but it turns out that Alzheimer's disease becomes a morbid and prone to nerve fibrous nodes.

"It's an old theory that the mainly pathological forms of the tau protein migrate between brain cells," Beckman said. "It has shown that healthy forms of tau protein can spread to the brain. A large number of healthy tau proteins can damage brain cells."
