National researchers have discovered the principle of determining the shape of a star-shaped galaxy.
The Korea Research Foundation (KFRI) said July 30 that the researchers at the National University of Seoul have found a new principle that determines the shape of a galaxy. So far, they have suggested several hypotheses about the origin of the spiral galaxy's barrel form, which is the most common type of galaxy, but it remains a difficult problem because there is no clear explanation.
The teacher's team explained that the bar structures occur during the collision of two or more galaxies, a collection of more than a couple of hundreds of galaxies. The researchers analyzed 105 galaxies and 1377 spiral galaxies from external observations of galaxies and found that the appearance of bar shapes was high in collision galaxies. It is an explanation that the galaxy with enormous gravitational forces mixes with each other, the force that acts on the galaxy changes, and thus the structure of the bars is created.
The hypothesis that a bar structure was formed during the galaxy's impulse process was only mentioned in an article about 20 years ago. However, it was revealed through the analysis of the observation data of this study.
