On Tuesday, at the Innsbruck track, Latvian bobsleigh driver Dsvis Kaufmanis and promoter Ivo Dans Kleinbergs won third place in the seventh doubles competition of the European Cup season.
The victory was celebrated by the two led by Swiss driver Michael Kuonen, who overtook second-placed German Philip Zielasko by 0.06 seconds in the sum of two races.
Meanwhile, Kaufmann’s two were 0.16 seconds behind. In the first race, the Latvian crew had the fastest start and finished second at the finish line, with Kuonen losing only one hundredth of a second. In the second race, the Latvians retired to third place with the second result at the start and the third final. 28 crews of two men participated in the competition. The competition for four will take place over the next two days.
Kuonen is the leader with 710 points in the overall European Cup and Kaufmanis is in second place with 642 points. A month later, the final doubles competition of the season is scheduled for the Königsze track. In Bobsleigh, the European Cup is second only to the World Cup.
