The choice of leased medical devices is increasing in people with diabetes mellitus, the state fund for patients in the Ministry of Health (VLK) reports.
Patients who require smart insulin pumps in home health care homes may already be leased by the Health Insurance Fund (PSDF). This option allows patients not only to receive vital services, but also to save at least several thousand euros a year, according to the VLK report.
"By celebrating World Diabetes Day, we are pleased to announce that from now on the list of medical devices that are hired for PSDF at home are included and known as smart insulin pumps. For many patients, and especially for children, such pumps are more convenient or even vital because are used with a permanent glucose sensor that allows you to measure blood glucose levels and stop insulin injections if blood glucose is lowered. Therefore, people with diabetes have the opportunity to choose and rent the most suitable insulin pump for their needs, "said Giedrius Baranauskas, head of the compensation oortopedskih engineers VLK.
The cost of renting smart insulin pumps for patients with type 1 diabetes is 100% offset from the PSDF budget. Also, the four monthly glucose sensors are included monthly to compensate for the cost of these pumps for insulin pumps.
At home, a smart insulin pump can be used if you need continuous monitoring of blood glucose in patients under the age of 24 years. as well as pregnant women and women planning to get pregnant (up to a year when diabetes is not controlled). In addition, patients must accept at least 70%. the time to use glucose sensors, so that these insulators could use an insulin pump.
"The medical advice is always decided upon by the medical device setup. A smart insulin pump in diabetic patients is used if their use helps to reduce the incidence of hypoglycaemia when it is severe or if a hypoglycaemic disorder is experienced and causes a person to experience unconsciousness, seizures. if you are not able to recognize the symptoms of hypoglycemia or report them. This is most commonly the case in children under the age of 5 with diabetes or people with disabilities, "explained Baranauskas.
Those who want to rent a smart insulin pump should contact a company that has a contract with VLK to reimburse the cost of engaging medical devices. The company will sign a contract with the patient on the delivery of the insulin pump, after-sales service and continuous maintenance.
So far, the cost of renting intelligent insulin pumps has not been compensated, so people at their own expense should have purchased not only the same pumps, but also glucose sensors. For others, one patient spent an average of 2,700 euros per year. From now on, PSDFs are reimbursed for renting smart insulin pumps with 4 permanent glucose sensors for nearly 5,400 euros per patient per year.
It is estimated that nearly a million people will have to compensate for the cost of renting smart insulin pumps annually. 400 thousand Budget funds PSDF.
Leasing fee for medical devices – new only this year began to provide health care. PSDF currently pays for hire of artificial ventilation machines and simple insulin pumps.
