The Google Calendar app will have one of the most important retirement features in the first week of 2019, today announced a search giant. It appears that the SMS alert option will be completely removed from the application starting on January 7, 2019, but there is a reason for Google's decision.
Because Calendar already offers notifications in the application, users will still be notified, regardless of their device or connection. There is no need to make any changes to the Calendar application if you are currently receiving SMS notifications because they will automatically be replaced with apps and e-mail notifications.
Regardless of whether you are using an iPhone or Android smartphone, you will see these new notifications as event notifications if you have the Calendar application installed. It will also be sent as email if you set up SMS notifications for new events, changed events, canceled events, or event responses.
Although retirement of the SMS notification option is likely to hit many users who rely on this specific feature, at least Google offers decent alternatives.
