After a great expectation and appearance of a bunch of patent submissions, Samsung at the Samsung Developer Conference (SDC 2018) in San Francisco, California formally introduced a foldable shape form factor based on Infiniti Flek Displai. The South Korean giant at the annual development conference also unveiled its brand-new design interface called One UI, which was specifically designed to make the experience more natural and comfortable for use with one hand than the existing Samsung Excess UKS. The new interface also comes as a companion for Infiniti Flek Displai for the delivery of portable first-generation smartphones from Samsung. So far, the company has managed to abandon the traditional design design to display in support of its Infiniti Displai technology. However, at a programmer's conference, she revealed the arrival of notches announcing three designs, including Infiniti-U, Infiniti-V and Infiniti-O. Galaki smartphone maker has also announced that it opens a bikby virtual assistant for developers in an effort to expand its presence over time – taking Google Assistant, Apple's Cheese, Amazon's Alec and Microsoft's Cortana.
Among other key announcements, Samsung at SDC 2018 has presented a foldable shape form factor that is being developed in conjunction with Google. Form Factor is based on Infiniti Flek Displai and aims to offer users the ability to transform the smartphone into a tablet. The form factor is underlined to include a "cover screen" that will cover an internal, foldable screen that can be as much as 7.3 inches. Apps that appear on the cover screen switch to a larger view when the hardwares open. Samsung also claimed that its one user interface would allow simultaneous opening of up to three active applications on a larger display.
"With the continuity of the application, the application you are using when the device is closed, you were really waiting for you," explains Justin Denison, SVP Mobile Product Marketing, Samsung, during the opening of the main SDC 2018 on Wednesday. "When it's open, it's an intuitive, continuous experience between the cover and the main display screen. Additionally, we give people the ability to simultaneously run up to three applications – without exchanging applications, without closing one application to get to another – just multitasking like It should be. We call it Multi-Active Windows. "
Since the conventional glass panel is not adjustable, Samsung has built new material for a cover window that is claimed to be "flexible and durable" for a new form factor. There is also a unique adhesive that helps to improve the elasticity of the display. Technically, under the cover window, there is a film that absorbs impacts, an ultra-thin polarizer, a flexible layer and a flexible side panel. The polarizer in the new setting is also much thinner than what is available on the existing AMOLED display to allow flexibility.
In order for applications to be compatible with foldable smartphones, Samsung works closely with Google. "We're optimizing Android for this new formal factor, and the changes that help users use everywhere the opportunities that this creates for incredible new experiences, new ways of engaging and satisfying your users," says Stephanie Cuthbertson, Product Manager, Android, in the Android Developers post blog.
Samsung did not reveal any specific details when we can see the final device based on a newly designed foldable form. A prototype in the "black box" that appeared to allow overlap with the built-in engine was introduced. Google, on the other hand, on its Android Dev Summit, let's slip the complex smartphone from Samsung to be launched early next year. However, in an Android Developers blog post, Google had a slightly different timeline for the exchange, saying, "Expect Foldables to come from several Android manufacturers, including one Samsung that is now showing up and planning to offer the next year."
As Android Police reports, in a session of developers following the main speech at SDC 2018, Samsung has discovered that the cover of its first foldable device will have a resolution of 840k1960 pixels with a 420dpi screen density and a minimum 320dpi screen width. On the other hand, the foldable screen located under the cover screen has a resolution of 1536k1960 pixels with a 420dpi screen density and a minimum screen width of 585dpi.
In addition to the sleek development of smartphones, Samsung at SDC 2018 announced that it is expanding its Infiniti Displai family by adding Infiniti-U, Infiniti-V and Infiniti-O design. While the Infiniti-U looks like U-shaped letters, the Infiniti-V design will be delivered with V-shaped, and the Infiniti-O design brings a hole on the screen. Samsung has already testified the Galaxy A8 with a hole design for the selfie camera. It looks like another model of the Galaki series can come with holes in the future in order to offer a great relationship between the screen and the body. Android Police says the company will also have a "Nev Infiniti" design that will be specific for sleek smartphones.
Samsung could use its UI in all of the new Infiniti Displai designs to offer a unique experience on all Galaki models. The new interface claims that it makes it easier for users to access tasks using one manual motion. One UI will be available to developers in selected markets later this month via Samsun's official beta testing program. It is expected to initiate at Galileo S9 and Galaki Note 9 models at the initial stage through software updates next year.
In addition to the new development of the screen, Samsung at SDC 2018 announced that it opens the bikbie for third-party developers. The company has highlighted the dedicated Bikbi Developer Studio, which will help developers to integrate the development environment (IDE) to enable them to create Bikbi Capsules – the ability to add native functionality and services using Bikbi voice assistant. Also, there will be a Bikbi Developer Center that will help developers build new experiences. Bikbi Marketplace would be additionally available for hosting Bikbi Capsules.
Samsung essentially aims to download Google Assistant, Apple's Siri, Amazon Alec and Microsoft Cortana by extending Bikbi. It has also been suggested that Bikini Capsules will lead to devices that are not smart, including smart TVs, speakers, and home appliances. The company also updates the speech assistant in other languages - British English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
