Two people are in hospital after having suffered serious injuries when cars were hit by a weekend.

Two separate accidents, one in central Taranaki and the other in Nev Plimut, occurred in the early morning hours.

A carman, who entered Saturday at 3.30 in the morning at Stratford at Oprtake Rd in Cardiff, was taken to the Christchurch hospital for treatment.

A police spokeswoman said the person had a spine injuries as a result of an accident.

She said that a heavy theft unit was investigating the incident and that the road was closed and the repair of the damaged sex could have been completed.

The other man was in a base hospital in Taranaki after he had a serious injury to his leg when the car he was driving drove into the pole early Sunday morning at Nev Plimouth.

Emergency services were called at the intersection Dorset and Smart Rds around 12.15 pm after a vehicle accident report.

A police spokeswoman said that the only car buyers hit an electric pillar that crashed.

"The force is halfway up," she said.

She said that the driver was "described as having a leg in his leg".

Electric workers were also on the ground dealing with the exterminated pillar.
