The works of the Talar Refinery Modernization Project (PMRT) of Petropera are progressing at a good pace. This was confirmed by the Minister of Energy and Mining, Francisco Ismodes, during a working visit to the facilities of the most important energy infrastructure project in the country.
Accompanied by Deputy Minister of Hydrocarbons Eduard Guevar and Petropero's General Manager Esteban Bertarelli, the owners of the MER informed the state enterprise staff that the work performed by the Spanish company Tenicas Reunidas (as the main contractor) recorded an integral improvement of 70.94%.
According to reports, the new PMRT plant will consist of 16 new state-of-the-art process units that will produce clean fuels with Euro VI technology, as well as gasoline, diesel and LPG. In addition, it will be able to process heavy raw materials such as those extracted in the jungle, as well as to make a deep conversion of residues to valuable products and low octane gasoline to high octane gasoline.
During his trip, Ismodes claimed that, according to estimates made by the company in charge of the project, the modern refinery would come into force in late 2020 or early 2021.
He added that after the start of operations, a modern factory will be able to process 95 thousand barrels of oil a day, unlike the current refinery with a maximum capacity of 65 thousand barrels.❧
