China donates 200,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Sierra Leone – Xinhua



FREETOWN, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) – Sierra Leone on Thursday received a shipment of 200,000 doses of China’s COVID-19 sinopharm vaccine donated by China to support the country’s vaccination campaign.

Sierra Leone health authorities said the vaccine “will play an important role in the prevention and containment of COVID-19 in the country.”

According to authorities, the vaccine comes at a time when the government of Sierra Leone plans to vaccinate about 1.6 million vulnerable people.

Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone Hu Zhangliang said that “we support Sierra Leone with the COVID-19 vaccine at a time when countries around the world are struggling to get it.”

Hu called on the Sierra Leone authorities to use the precious vaccine to save the nation from COVID-19.

Sierra Leone Deputy Foreign Minister Solomon Jamiru expressed his government’s gratitude to China for helping Sierra Leone fight the pandemic and assured that they will continue to work with Chinese medical teams to fight the COVID- pandemic. 19. Enditem
