The Chamber of Arcos de Valdevez, approved a budget of almost 28 million euros in 2019, plus a million more than in 2018, the mayor of Lusitania Lucia said today.
Speaking to Luz, João Manuel Esteves said the plan approved by most PSDs (six elements) was "based on community funding" and said the document would "privilege people, families and business investments."
The work plan and budget of Arcos de Valdevez, worth 27,863,300 euros, was approved on Friday by voting against the only elements of the opposition in the executive power, PS counselor Dore Brandao.
Joao Manuel Esteves explained that "the qualification of human resources will be a big bet on municipal executive authorities in 2019, strengthening the social action school, granting scholarships and overloading school equipment."
The Social Democrat said the document also provided "support for repopulating the county, providing better solutions for young people to get the country at attractive prices and build their homes or leases."
Regarding family support, the mayor said that "it is planned to" reduce taxes and municipal taxes and invest in people's quality of life, either through the rehabilitation of public space or services such as water supply and basic sanitation ".
Joao Manuel Esteves also stressed "a strong commitment to the expansion of business parks and the promotion of tourism in the district."
"The development strategy of Arcos de Valdevez is in line with the European Union and Portugal 2020. We want an innovative, sustainable, closer, inclusive and interconnected municipality," he said.
Contacted by the LUA agency, City Hall PS Dora Brandao complained that "once again the Executive Director of the Social Democratic majority submitted the document" with delay and incomplete, without political guidelines, only with reference to income and expenses ".
According to Alfman, the document was delivered "via email, at the end of the day," the day before the hearing "when the minimum minimum is 48 hours."
Dora Brandao considered that the income listed in the document "is not strict as it takes into account the value for municipal fees, that is IMI and IMT, which have not yet been considered."
He also condemned the "distribution of funds to the councils of the parishes", stating that "the protocols envisaged have the same value, 30,000 euros for all parishes, regardless of the territory, population and characteristics of each."
"This impact should be based on population criteria because Arcos de Valdevez is one of the municipalities of Viana do Castelo, which has lost more people in recent years," he said, arguing that the document "did not increase funding to support families".
