The Sudanese oil and mineral minister, Azhari Abdul Qader, announced the discovery of a gold mine that he described as "huge", with a planned production capacity of 7 tonnes per year.

On Sunday, in a meeting of companies that work in the mining sector in the Red Sea State, Abdulkader committed to carry out large-scale processes in the mining sector, and pointed out that all the problems of the sector miners were linked to policies.

It is one of the few sources of foreign exchange that reaches the country, Sudan produces some 105 tons per year, while the production of the first nine months of 2018 is 78 tons.

Traditional gold mining sites are spread over 800 locations in most northern and western states of Sudan.

Sudan suffers smuggling across the borders, outside official channels, due to exchange rate differences, in relation to the country's lack of foreign exchange, which is one of the causes of many protests cities.
