Covid-19: Six deaths and 268 new cases were recorded

Dakar, 24 January (APS) – Two hundred and sixty-eight new Covid-19 infections and 6 deaths from the disease have been reported in Senegal over the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Action. .

Of the 2,448 tests performed, 268 were positive, a result that corresponded to a positivity rate of 10.95%, according to the daily report of the Ministry of Health on the evolution of the pandemic in Senegal.

The new infections reported refer to 102 contact cases already followed by health services and 166 so-called community cases, which indicate infections whose source of contamination is not known, according to this report.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health reports that 6 new deaths and 51 serious cases have been registered in intensive care units.

Senegal, since the appearance of the new coronavirus in its territory on March 2, 2020, has recorded 24,724 positive cases, including 20,476 cured and 575 people killed by this disease.

As a result, 3,675 people continue to be treated in the country’s health services, according to the Ministry of Health and Social Action.
