The active subscribers of mobile operators operating in Cameroon are 19.7 million of the total population of 25 million, APA learned on Monday from the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ART). that for the year 2017, the Regulatory Agency for Telecommunications (ART) reveals that 889 556 new subscribers have been registered, an increase of 4.73% over the previous year.
The regulator explains that this dynamics reflects the control of operators of the subscription procedures recommended by the provisions of the Decision of 3 September 2015 defining procedures for identifying subscribers and terminal equipment for electronic communications networks.
According to ART, "With the entry into force of the number portability scheme, which requires a particular focus on real customer satisfaction, this increase in subscribers reflects increased competitive pressures between operators in order to gain new market shares."
In addition, ART notes that the penetration rate of mobile telephony services in the observed period is 84.85%, an increase of 1.73 points compared to 2016.
In other words, 8 out of 10 Cameroon has access to services offered by one of the four operators operating in the country.
ART informs that the overall evolution of the number of active SIM cards has remained very strong. It also notes the recruitment of new clients through a significant improvement in coverage levels, as well as services offered by mobile operators.
