A five year project entitled RNP Dynamics will investigate how the regulation of molecules is made RNA It contributes to the development and functioning of the brain and how the errors in this regulation are managed neurodegenerative diseases like amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ELA), a researcher and Slovenian teacher molecular neuroscience on UCLUle.
In addition, the project will examine how the errors in the contacts take place proteins in RNK (ribonucleic acid) damage the action neurons and therefore trigger the disease ELA. This will be the basis for the development of new strategies for the treatment of diseases by means of RNA molecules.
According to Anderlech, this is a basic research project in which they will not develop medication ELA, but they understand better the reasons why this disease occurs. "I am convinced that the results of the project will be the basis for the development of medications and strategies to treat this disease in the future" said Anderluh.
The research will be based on techniques that control the entire cellular network of contacts between molecules, which will produce a large amount of data. These data will be the basis of computer analyzes that will look for changes in the molecular contact, which are key to the dynamics of the molecular complexes and, therefore, will lead to the early development of the brain.
Researchers from the Institute of Chemistry will cooperate mainly in the field of structural biochemistry and structural chemistry, thus helping to understand the structure and interaction of molecules and in the field of computer modeling processes that take place in the molecules of our body.
