In the autobiography, which in English has been titled “Disguised as love,” he states that the father of his childhood “beat me, swore to me, and humiliated me.” Galia Oz describes father violence as an endless “sadistic abuse routine”.
Her story is told by the rest of the family, Sister Fania Oz-Salzberger, Mother Nili and Brother Daniel.
“Throughout our lives, we have met a completely different Amos, a warm and affectionate man who loved his family deeply and carefully. He gave us his heart and his soul. The vast majority of Gaul’s accusations against Amos fully contradict our three lives of loving memories of him, ”Fania Oz-Salzberger said in a statement.
Amos Oz died of cancer in 2018 and his son Daniel points out that the father himself cannot defend himself from the accusations.
“He was not an angel, but a man. But he was the best man I have had the privilege of meeting,” the son wrote on Facebook.
