The most luxurious dress in the history of the kingdom was last shown two years before the tragic death of the village princess.
This summer, the late Princess Diana’s most famous dress will be on display again at Kensington Palace in honor of the Royal Style in the Making exhibition.
The dress with which the young Lady Dee married the queen’s son in 1981 became one of the most iconic and elegant wedding dresses in the history of the kingdom. The dress was inspired not only by designers, but also by the most famous brides, and Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle were never able to surpass their late mother-in-law. The dress was last shown in 1995, two years before Diana’s death.
Diana’s wedding dress will be on display at the Royal Conservatory from June 3, 2021 to January 2, 2022 with the permission of Princes Harry and William.
The dress was created by a couple of designers: David and Elizabeth Emanuel, and the peculiarity of the dress is its 7.6-meter endless train. The dress has been preserved in its original form: puffy puffy sleeves, primary neckline and multi-layered puffy skirt that still amaze the imagination of fashion experts. I would also like to highlight the details: a bodice with antique laces (including the laces that belonged to Charles ’grandmother, Queen Mary) and a train embroidered with sequins.
