An earthquake of 8-9 points on the Richter scale can occur at any time in the territory of Western Ukraine. The mountain range on the interface between the Ukrainian and Romanian Carpathians is almost as active as in Chile.
About that, on Monday, November 12, write "Transcarpathian News".
According to the deputy director of the Institute of Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Alexander Kendzer, Transcarpathia can be prompted by a strong earthquake in the near future, because this region is included in the zone of seismic activity.
According to him, according to archival data research, powerful earthquakes in Transcarpathia occur every 100-120 years, and the last one was recorded in 1908.
"Of course, there is a reason for the unrest, because if we look at the map of the seismic response in the territory of Ukraine, it shows that global earthquakes can be globalized in Transcarpathia." Local effects have even reached 8 points, "the geophysicist said.
The last time that earthquake struck in Ukraine's border with Romania on October 28, there were tremors in the Odessa region.
