The US multinational Apple recalled last year ten times more iPhone phone batteries than it had anticipated, which contributed substantially to a slowdown in the sale of new devices, according to the specialized press.
According to these information, the bite apple company recalled 11 million iPhone batteries in the US. During the past twelve months, when its forecasts at the beginning of the year were to change between 1 and 2 million.
On January 2, Apple CEO Tim Cook sent a letter to the company's investors in which they announced a downward revision of their revenue expectations for the first quarter of fiscal year 2019.
Cook justified the new calculations, fundamentally, for lower iPhone sales than expected and the economic downturn in China.
"Fewer customers have renewed their phones with respect to what we anticipated. Some customers took advantage of our significant reduction in the price of battery exchanges," said Steve Jobs's successor at the company's front.
In mentioning the low price of the batteries, Cook was referring to the fact that during the past year many Apple customers preferred to change the battery of their telephone instead of buying one of the new models.
He contributed that the company based in Cupertino (California, USA) reduced the price of battery exchanges from 79 to 29 dollars during the year 2018 in response to complaints from users who accused it of slowing down the operation of the old phones.
Investors reacted scared at the announcement of Cook and the value of the company's shares collapsed the next day on Wall Street, to later stabilize during the next days, waiting for the company to present official results next January 29 .
In parallel, the company today announced three new battery cases for its latest models XR, XS and XS Max, which are available in the colors black and white and that in addition to protecting the phone add extra hours of autonomy.
