Ketamine used to treat depression with side effects on the neurological system – Industry Reporter

Depression and other mental and psychological disorders can have effects on the human body. These effects can be caused due to the change of chemical products in the bodies. While other side effects form these events, it could be considered as a form of neuronal changes. This is what makes psychological disorder important, as they may have difficult complications to manage at some point.

A recent investigation was carried out on these effects caused by depression, trying to find solutions. The research carried out by a team hired by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) (part of the National Institutes of Health) suggests the use of ketamine that completely reverses the effects on the body caused by depression .

These are mainly the changes observed in the neurological system of the body. The team was led by a professor and doctor of medicine Weill Cornell from New York, Conor Liston. He published his study and obtained results in the prestigious journal Science Journal. According to the study, "ketamine is a potentially transformative treatment for depression, but one of the main challenges associated with this drug is to maintain recovery after initial treatment."

This is an important discovery that the disorders that affect humans in the United States, including only depression, are almost 17.3 million per year, which is a huge population. Being able to help prevent the reactions of the disorder will definitely save the lives of many people.
