German teenager Sophia Floersch broke the spine in a quick trail during the Formula 3 race in Macau, but said the hospital was "okay".
The 17-year-old driver lost control of his Van Amersfoort engine at a speed of just 280 km / h on Sunday.
Her vehicle hit a fellow driver, Sho Tsuboi, before he catapulted through the air and through the fence.
Floersch was aware and transferred to the hospital, later tweeting that she would operate on Monday.
"I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm fine, but tomorrow I'm going for surgery," she said.
Officials said she had a spine fracture.
Chinese Ferrari junior Guan Iu Zhou, stood behind Florsch at the time of the accident and blamed a yellow warning light that glistened at the right.
"First of all it was such an awesome moment," said Joe.
"Sofia was really close to Jehan, so when Jehan ran out early, she did not have time to react.
"She hit Jehan's right-hand side, and she turned her straight to Lisboa, and she flew into another car, and I hope it's okay."
Her father told the DPA earlier that she was able to run the entire body.
Four other people were taken to the hospital, including a Japanese driver Tsuboi, two photographers and sherbys. Everyone was aware of it and were treated for various injuries to the back, head and face, according to reports.
Floersch, which will be December 1st, competes in its first season in the younger series F3. She was lying in 15th place when the accident took place on a circle of four street cars.
The race continued after a break of about an hour and was won by 19-year-old British driver Daniel Ticktum.
German Mick Schumacher, the son of Formula 1's first son, Michael Schumacher, was one of the few stars in the engine that sent messages of support to a teenage star.
