The Nikon A1000 and B600 compacts offer up to 60x zoom and 4K


Nikon has announced a duo of superzoom compact cameras that offer an optical zoom of 60x and a 4K video recording.

The Nikon Coolpix A1000 is a compact 35x optical zoom: a focal length of 24 to 840 mm. The digital zoom can expand up to 1,680 mm.

It comes with an electronic viewfinder and is capable of capturing RAW images, with a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor on board. It has the most advanced video capture talents of the two new cameras, with a recording of up to 4K 30 fps.

Its 3-inch touch screen tilts the back and the camera is small enough to easily fit into your pocket.

The Nikon Coolpix B600 is more for those who want more phone capacity.

It has a 60x optical zoom lens, with a focal length of 24 to 1,440 mm. Add Dynamic Nikon Digital Dynamic Fine Zoom technology to it and it can extend to 2,880 mm.

The camera also uses a 16-megapixel CMOS sensor, but is limited to Full HD video recording (1080 / 30p). The compatibility with RAW with this model is not mentioned.

It also comes with a 3-inch touch screen, although it is solved in this case.

The Nikon Coolpix A1000 will be available later this month, the same January 31, at a price of 409 pounds sterling (€ 469).

The Nikon Coolpix B600 will be priced at £ 329 (€ 379) and will be available as of February.
